The idea of reading a story about a leper colony does not sound too appealing but you would be very unwise to dismiss this book for that reason. Yes, there are some incredibly sad moments in the story but also some very uplifting times. Indeed life on Spinalonga is very idyllic; it is an extremely caring society where the islanders make the best of their situation. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it very much.
