Brick Lane - Monica Ali

Black Swan

Mark Haddon

'The kind of novel that surprises one with its depth and dash; it is a novel that will last'

Guardian

I enjoyed this book very much. I felt that it gave me an insight into the lives of people coming to live in England from a different continent. The lives of the two sisters Nasneen and Hasina seem to be so different and yet are they?

I loved the fact that over time Nasneen learns to look after herself both emotionally and financially, and she also learns to love her husband Chanu. This really is a thoroughly good read which I feel should be on the reading list of every chid in the country.
